By Mary Lindow

DEAR FRIENDS OR READERS. THIS IS MOST POSSIBLY ONE OF THE MOST SUCCINCT WORDS THAT THE LORD HAS GIVEN TO ME TO SHARE THIS FAR IN MY LIFE WITH HIM.

WHAT WE ACCOMPLISH AS MEMBERS OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD

IS DONE BY THE POWER OF GOD,

AND BE EVER SO CAREFUL! KNOWLEDGE CAN BE MISTAKEN FOR MATURITY.

The Times are RAPIDLY Changing, and I know that for me, it will require a different strategy to handle them and that I must be willing and able to walk out the days ahead. It seems as if I identify with the prophet Jeremiah more often now than ever before. And so, I am CHOOSING to adjust the way of delivering my portion of what the Spirit of God would give me, as He leads me. Daily.

I AM IN WORDLESS, TEAR-STREAMING GRIEF over the rapid forms of meditation, eastern mysticism, competitive daily trendy "prophetic" articles/words (advertisements!) -and outright fear mongering one moment and then "hysterical" any moment breakthrough messages, (both which, recycle over and over, that are sweeping into the Body of Christ.

Facebook posts are loaded like a buttered baked potato with a big scoop of sour cream, and belch out sarcasm; shaming, smug and rude "thumbing the nose" at any warnings or loving corrections, and the devouring and public slandering has become unbearable.

WHEN PEOPLE REFUSE TO LET GOD BE THE JUDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL, when they inject their own standards to oppose His, these people who are "usurping" assume a sovereignty or power that belongs only to God. They choose to undermine God’s order, in order to demand their own, and in doing this, they hope to avoid the pinpricks of their conscience. After all, "if it's legal" then it must be right! Right?" No. God’s law is not so easily escaped or fanned away as an old dusty list of metaphors.

CONCEIT AND PRIDE ARE THE GREATEST ENEMIES TO SPIRITUAL GROWTH!  Newly "acquired knowledge" or notoriety often leads to pride rather than wisdom. There is no more certain way to fall into sin and self-deception than to allow pride to lead us into putting confidence in ourselves rather than God. This kind of pride always leads to destruction, because it robs us of God’s power to stand against temptation!

WHAT WE ACCOMPLISH AS MEMBERS OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS DONE BY THE POWER OF GOD. AND, KNOWLEDGE CAN BE MISTAKEN FOR MATURITY.

True knowledge is designed to bring us TO maturity.
When we parade our so called freedom before others in an effort to reveal how much we know, we reveal our immaturity and are treading on dangerous ground! Knowledge put on PUBLIC display leads to heartbreak and divisive scattering...

The Western Style "First World Church" is caught up in so many identity crises! And, with the many pushing movements and meetings, the voices crying out and weeping in the places of preparation (the wilderness) saying, "You! Yes YOU! Prepare the Way of the LORD!... ...straighten out those crooked, twisted paths!" -are suddenly being told to step back into a place of silence and travailing prayer, determined to lean in closer to THE Voice that is small, still, and sure.

ONLY TIME SPENT WITH THE LORD, like a dear friend, will fill the gaping ache you have. He will speak, He will comfort, and He will show you what is true and what is false in the days ahead if you will return to that Place of companionship with Him. Away from the opinions of men and the noise of this life. As you turn your heart and hopes towards him you will see compassion poured out upon you and you will then have his power of pure godly compassion and “wisdom driven” grace to pour out on others.

SPEAK TO HIM WITH ALL OF YOUR HEART,
YOUR LONGINGS,
YOUR HEARTACHES, AND YOUR DREAMS.
HE WILL BE THERE WITH ARMS OF STRENGTH
TO RESCUE YOU FROM DESPAIR."

“A Prophetic Word”
Can you not hear my voice speaking to you clearly?
Has it become clouded with the cares of this life and the voices of men articulating what they “think” is my voice?

My time for you to hear the truth is never when man decides it. The world screams that all the chaos and change is turning and twisting men's hearts away from me. But when I speak and when I move and I am lifted up, men's hearts ache for me!

There is a greater power in my silence then there is in the shouting of mankind saying that I do not exist!
It is folly and foolishness to think that man can try to silence or attempt to erase me!

I am preparing for myself a bride. Not a foolish, emotionally lovesick self-seeking bride! No I am seeking and preparing for myself a mature godly gathering of those who will become one and unified with and in me. I am the one that is shaping and fashioning this bride in the refining fires that are currently burning across the earth.

Men may try to redefine me, say that I do not exist, they may attempt to twist words that I have spoken in order to fit the base agenda in their own souls, but all the while I am shaping and fashioning and preparing for myself an army and a bride that will not be defeated in the days to come.
Adjust your thinking child!

I am not a God to be dictated to or to be demanded of!
I am one to be approached with brokenness and humility! Those who have a contrite heart and a right spirit are the ones that I will answer.

There is a time coming when I will sweep away and clean up the false examples of prophetic ministry claiming and declaring things that have nothing to do but glorify the flesh.

If a person's heart is not right with me, no matter what they declare, decree, or shout, it will fall upon ears of deafness in heaven. I desire truth in your inward parts.

Let me reduce you to love.
Stripping away title, presumption and secret desires for notoriety. In order to be like me you have to live like I did in the earth. I served mankind and was spat upon. I spoke truth and I was mocked. I challenged the proud and religious thinkers of the day and they desired to silence me and kill me.

I am calling you my people to become honest in heart, broken and humble before me, and with willing and heart to serve me, and those that I send to you. It is not their external condition that you are to judge, nor categorize.
Your job is to share my life my light and my love with them. And in your example of how you treat them is how I see you treating me.

Show no favoritism but humble yourselves in my site and do the work of my servant.

Yes, the days are changing and the mandates for your life are becoming more defined. Bow before me and reconnect your heart to truth and simplicity and the grace of knowing that you were purchased with a life poured out so that you might live life to the fullest.

"It is necessary for him to increase and for me to decrease."
-John 3:30

By Mary Lindow through the Inspiration of the Holy Spirit

My spiritual discernment tells me...
... That a change in the spiritual climate is coming.

Yes.

There ABSOLUTELY is risk associated with the shifting of your focus, choices and standards.

For some, there is risk that the newness that God is bringing will also bring an ending to their way of doing things, an ending to the security of the past.

For others there is risk that they will be the people called to forge into new territory in the power of the Spirit, to announce and help build and steward the newness that God is bringing.

I often ponder (at times I stew and pace) about where the church is in this post-modern culture and where it desperately needs to be heading.

I feel a change in the air.
I sense a new freshness and direction being orchestrated by the Lord in His church, meaning His people. I’m sure not smart enough to know what all that means nor am I able to predict the future, but the signs are there.

My spiritual discernment tells me...
... that a change in the spiritual climate IS coming.

I’m not yet sure whether this is a storm or the just the rains after a drought, but I have an inkling that it may be the wind of opportunity that promises a new beginning that I hear blowing. It may just be the fresh winds of the Spirit that will bring the “showers of spiritual blessings” that people used to sing about, but most likely.... this is not the case.

Our world and our culture are changing rapidly all around us.

With new communication technology and increasing global interaction, we face a world that will be absolutely different from the one which we have lived in for so long.

Our own society is changing.

There are new ways of thinking and new ways of doing things.(Think self driving cars and drones delivering pizzas!)

The year were are in just sped through and was just a date on a calendar, but that date caused us to take a long look at where we have been and where we are going. And, when we looked closely, the changes unfolding all around us have surprised us, or at least it surprised me!

Of course, some want to see changes, ANY changes, as threatening.

And so they move into a doomsday mode and adopt a negative view (Think the Jonah Syndrome). They fight most any kind of change as a change for the worse.
There ARE things to be concerned about WITH some changes. But where some people see only problems, others see opportunities.

Change can be threatening, scary, and hard!
HARD
H A R D
WORK!

However, the people who study these things say that times of change are the best opportunities for people to respond to God. The uncertainty and discomfort that any major change brings, opens the door to reevaluate your life and ask questions about your purpose and what in your life has meaning.

If that’s true in individuals, I am pretty sure that it’s also true of society. And it’s true of the church.

Studies and Stats show that there is more interest in religion and spirituality in the world at large now than there has been in the last half-century.

Of course, some of that spirituality is of the weird and twisted kind, and certainly not Christian. But, that also tells us that there are opportunities to proclaim the Gospel, in Love, with authentic compassion and yet without compromising.

Honestly speaking, I’m not sure what all that means for the church. The message hasn’t changed, and the truth hasn’t changed, but the world has, and how we speak and express the truth will need to change in order to speak to that world.

New winds are blowing.
The spiritual climate is changing.
The smell of fresh breezes and fresh showers are in the air.
But one thing is certain.

There will be no status quo.

There will be no “going on as usual”.

The changes, are already in process.

We can’t change things just because we decide it should be done friends!

That’s presumption!

If we say we want GOD’S plan(s) for change, we have to get the blueprints from Him. But, we CAN do it as God calls out to us and reveals to us where HE is working in the world. And then, we can do it!

We can RISK as we listen, hear, and respond to that call, as God enables and graces us with the courage it will take to “adjust the rudder” of our ship.

I don’t know about you, but I'm going to be watching closely for the changes in the spiritual weather.

And I’ll be listening carefully so I don't miss the voice of God in the darkness.

If someone asks me about a voice that they may have heard calling their name in the night, I’ll be ready to tell them to say these words.

“Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening."

"The Lord came and stood there and called as he had before, “Samuel, Samuel!”
Samuel said, “Speak, Lord.
I am your servant
and......
I am listening.” -Samuel 3:10

Greetings Brothers and Sisters!
I’m sure that you’ll remember the story that on Christmas Eve, Ebenezer Scrooge is locked up in the darkness of his dim house. Dickens tells us, “Darkness is cheap, and Scrooge liked it.”

Today, we still know that darkness is cheap, easy to find, and its raw materials of despair and denial are in abundant supply.

Scrooge liked darkness, as we often do, because it hides what we fear, keeps us from facing what is true, and allows us to be blind to truth. But like so many things that come cheaply, our overindulgence in them comes at great cost.

Out of Scrooge’s darkness appears the ghost of Jacob Marley, Scrooge’s former business partner. Marley comes not to haunt Scrooge, but to free him. Scrooge sees that Marley is bound in chains.

“Why are you fettered?” Scrooge asks.
“I wear the chain I forged in life,” Marley says. “I made it link by link, and yard by yard,” and he tells Scrooge that the chain that will fetter him in the darkness is even longer, heavier and harder still, if he does not leave the darkness.

WOW! There is a lot of wisdom here!
Though chains placed by others might fetter us, most of our chains are forged by the part of our spiritual self that likes the darkness and shuns the light. Marley was fettered to cashboxes, deeds and ledgers, as was Scrooge.

What would fetter or chain you?
Brothers and Sisters, the life of any leader or person in some form of care, supervision or one with employees or volunteer workers, a person with a bit of over-site over others, needs to be bravely examined, fully exposed to the pure and strong light of God’s eyes and checked often for hardness of heart, the love of acumen, pride in achievements and the over lording of others.

Jesus coming into the world—God in human skin—announced what had been hoped forever, that the captive person would be released from the darkest prisons—physical and spiritual. To our inner spiritual soul, our chains and fetters will be crushed, if we are willing to leave the darkness. Like Scrooge, do we need to be “scared out”? Shaken from slumber?

Scrooge could not receive the simple gift of Christmas, so ghosts rather than grace were sent. But, the result is love.

We need the light of God’s love that by its very nature is a love that comes to give us and those we serve, value and worth, not a love that comes because we are already valuable and worthy.

The entire point of "A Christmas Carol" is that Scrooge is entirely unworthy of God’s mercybecause Scrooge has no mercy! But! Mercy and love come to Scrooge through the judgment of the ghosts, and this "transformation" makes the unworthy Scrooge, worthy again.

The light of God that comes as love, forgiveness and hope is a light that brings judgment. I know that most of us get uncomfortable when talking about God’s judgment, because we are so afraid that we are unworthy of God’s love.

But, look at Scrooge! Without God’s light, without the promise of God’s love, Scrooge is doomed!

It is love and judgment bringing him into the light.
Can we now see that judgment by God as a form of God’s love? His way of exposing the darkness of our own souls? Romans 2:16 has proof of this probing of our secret lives!!

“And this is the message I proclaim--that the day is coming when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge everyone's secret life.”

Oh friends! Will we ever fully learn that God does not love us because we have value, but instead, HE loves us to give us worth? Life without the pure love of God coursing through our being is a vapor and miserable!

Let's say to the Spirit of God with all of our hearts, the words Scrooge humbly uttered after he was confronted and faced his darkened heart.

"I will honor Christmas in my heart,
and try to keep it all the year."

What is Christmas?
When Heaven kissed earth with the greatest act of sacrifice...
... Sending us a Redeemer.
Who is Christ the Lord?
He IS THE Spirit, of CHRISTmas!

Let’s Humbly Pray this prayer together,
Father God, be gracious to me I pray, according to your loving- kindness. Father, my sins are heavy against me and my soul is troubled. For the many wrongs I have done against you and for the many evil thoughts and unholy attitudes I have allowed to influence my heart, and rule my life, for far to long.
I have sought to condone my wrongdoings, and ignore the voice of my conscience within. And I ask your forgiveness for my foolish pride, in ignoring the gentle promptings of Your Holy Spirit.
Forgive me I pray, and restore to me the joy of your salvation. For you have promised that all who truly confess their sins will be forgiven and returned back into a right relationship with you - and cleansed from all unrighteousness.
Lord the sacrifice of my heart is brokenness before You, My soul is truly contrite and my desire is to return into a right relationship with you. I know that the consequences of my wrong choices may remain with me for a long time – but I ask that in Your grace and mercy You would forgive my sins and cleanse my soul and restore me into a right relationship with Yourself – and my heart will rejoice in God my Savior, in Whose name I pray,
Amen.

A Spontaneous Prophetic Song/Word From the Lord

By the Holy Spirit & Mary Lindow

Dear Listener/Reader,

As I was praying and worshiping the Lord tonight, crying out from my heart over so many devastating world events, tragedies, (and my own personal trials,)  the weight of the glory of the Lord’s presence overshadowed my heart and the following spontaneous music and prophetic word/song, began to flow out from the Heart of God.

It’s raw, unedited and timely.

Please…. Listen to His Message. Take time to hear Him.

"LISTEN AS I SPEAK A WORD OF PROMISE!

IT COMES FROM THE THRESHING FLOOR" ©

A Spontaneous Prophetic Song/Word From the Lord

By the Holy Spirit & Mary Lindow

I hear the cry of everyone weary and worn.

I hear the cry of those saying they're done. Done!

I hear the questions of all of the earth saying,

“Why? Oh why,  oh Why?”

“Why won’t your do something?

Change the world!!”

I hear the sound of the hearts of the weary,

I hear the sounds of their sighs

I hear the sound of the Mothers and Fathers

I hear their crying out! I HEAR them! Crying OUT!

I hear the sound of the abundance of rain,

I hear the hearts of that right in this season.

I hear the hearts and I hear the voices of those, who want to

Reason away the truths that I have written down with My Blood.

I DO NOT CHANGE!

I WILL NOT CHANGE FOR MAN!

I WILL NOT CHANGE… FOR MAN!

Listen as I speak, A Word of Promise

Cloaked in the truth for those who have ears to hear.

The times, they will grow much darker and harder,

Many will shed, so many tears

Until they give away, their very souls to me ALL to Me.

And say, “I’m Done with Me! God! I’m done with me!”

I Long to hear the voice of My People saying,

“Have Your Way!

“Have Your Way!

“Have Your Way!”

Distractions and things of the earth,

they will come in a flood!

And you’ll battle your soul!

Distractions and lies, and people and blood

will come, to weary the soul.

You must bow low, again.

You must bow low, again!

And see that I am only found

On the threshing floor.

I am only found, when you close the door

to the worldly cries and sighs,

And things you’re told that’s freeing.

I long for a Voice for Me…

…That comes from the Threshing floor

Come to that place, in your heart again

Where I have no closed ……doors

Heaven’s Calling!

Heaven’s Calling!

Heaven’s Voice is Calling…. To You!

“Come Back Again!

Come Back Again!

“There’s a price, for separation!

There’s a price, for consecration!

If you want me to move, if you want Me to flow,

If your want more of Me, then things have to go!

When the chaff, is separated from grain,

It’s done, on the threshing floor.

Done on the threshing floor.”

Come! Come back!

Come back to the clean place, where the strife,

Where the grind, where the fighting is released.

Come again…

…To the Threshing Floor.”

HOW MUCH LIGHT DOES ONE NEED WHEN PRESSED UNDER
by evil pressures and nightmarish reoccurring losses?
Only a pinhole.
One pinhole of Godly light is stronger than a universe of darkness.
It is enough for a surrendered believer to cling to and depend on when all
else has failed.

Psalm 89:15
Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you,
who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD.

When we focus upon the Light of God's enduring and
endearing Presence, all darkness will eventually be
swallowed up into the Light of His Fountain of light.
His Light is victorious over the darkness.

Psalm 36:9
For with you is the fountain of life;
In your light we see light.

WE ALONE CANNOT BATTLE THE DARKNESS.

Our strength is not enough.
Accept that and know that God s light comes to dispel
darkness. His strength and Righteous arm smashes dark
deeds, enemies, and deceivers and He will bring out into the
light the things men think that they have hidden or have
justified away.

Psalm 90:8
You have set our iniquities before you,
our secret sins are in the light of your presence.

WHEN YOU FEEL BLIND AND LOST IN A DARKENED SEASON.
Just as a caterpillar in a cocoon must experience a time of
confinement and seeming darkness, there comes a time
when it is lead out of darkness into light to stretch its newly
found wings of liberty and gracefulness to soar and express
resurrection power to those who gaze upon its beauty. Few
will fully understand the pain of this difficult process, unless
they too pass through it.

Isaiah 42:16
Along unfamiliar paths I will guide them;
I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the
rough places smooth.
These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.

WORKERS OF RIGHTEOUS DEEDS

There are those who do acts of benevolence and kindness
whose aim is gain personal gratification and a sense of
power when they stoop to help others in times of distress
and sorrow.

Often times, folks with this fleshly behavior,
although claiming a form of godliness, test those whom
they share with. This can be either in monetary gifts,
spiritual gifts, or in counsel.
This is NOT a Worker of A Righteous deed.
This is a form of selfish ambition and control.

To be righteous means to be:

VIRTUOUS
MORAL
GOOD
JUST
BLAMELESS
UPRIGHT
HONORABLE
HONEST
RESPECTABLE
DECENT

A RIGHTEOUS DEED IS ONE DONE WITH THE
INTENT OF IMITATING THE NATURE OF GOD S
MERCY AND GOODNESS.

It does not expect performance or groveling in return. Nor
does it hold others accountable for their actions in regards to
the act of Righteousness. Imagine if Jesus held us all
accountable to the acts of His goodness towards us and how
often we have failed and disrespected His grace. Yet
He continues in love, and acts of Righteousness.

I HAVE EXPERIENCED IN THE PAST AND EVEN AS
RECENTLY AS THE PAST FEW WEEKS,
OVERWHELMING ACTS OF BLESSING, KINDNESS
AND SACRIFICE FROM THOSE WHOM I KNOW GOD
MUST CALL HIS WORKERS OF RIGHTEOUS DEEDS.

The common thread I see among all of these beloved
Righteous givers of grace and care is that they have all,
experienced a time of great loss, depravation, near death, or
sorrow, and they understand the need for a pinhole of light.

Jeremiah 9:24
But let him who boasts- boast about this:
that he understands and knows Me,
that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and
righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight," de
clares the LORD.

WHEN TORMENT AND LYING SPIRITS DECEIVE OTHERS

and they foolishly accuse you; know that there are others
whom God will place in your life that will bring sober and
Godly counsel, as well as loving kindness and help.

Proverbs 27:9
Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart,
and the pleasantness of one's friend springs from his earnest
counsel.

DO NOT STOP IN YOUR KINDNESS AND IN YOUR
CARE FOR OTHERS!

The testing in this hour of the hearts of men & women will
only grow more intense as the Lord examines the intentions
of the hearts of those who call Him Lord.

IF YOU HAVE CAUSED TRAGEDY, DESTRUCTION OR SHAME
to fall upon any of your Family in Christ and
have yet to openly apologize and make the situation you
were a part of rightly corrected, also know that the risk of a
deep darkness of the soul is reserved for those who choose to
walk in self-deception. Quickly while you have time, humble
yourself in the sight and the light of the Lord and HE will lift
you out of your darkness.

Isaiah 53:11
After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light of life
and be satisfied; by his knowledge My righteous servant will
justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.

AN ABUNDANCE OF JOY
FOR WORKERS OF RIGHTEOUS DEEDS

Psalm 45:7
You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy.

Psalm 33:1
Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous;
it is fitting for the upright to praise him.

HOLD ON! HOLD FAST! REACH OUT!
A PROPHETIC WORD

"I the Redeemer of those who cry out to Me day
and night compel you to hold on to My hand of
Faithfulness and Light. Keep your eyes on the
light I provide for you in the darkness.
Hold fast to it and I will stir the hearts of the Righteous and
faithful in me to reach out a hand of compassion
and they will obey Me with acts of blessing,
restoration, and supply. They will do this
willingly for they have tasted of sorrow and know
the secret of My abundant Joy! They have gone
out weeping themselves. Sowing seeds they didn t
understand, growing up in compassion, only to
produce a harvest, abundant in Joy.

Psalm 126:6
He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves
with him.

I the Lord have tasted sorrow, loss, torment, and
death. Yet in one act of Righteousness, mankind
was brought the opportunity for the fullness of
Joy and the open door from darkness into light,
when they too, choose call upon My salvation,
cleansing, and light.

Quickly. Cleanse your hearts of any act of
unkindness, false humility, and the use of a heavy
hand over your brothers.

The pinhole of light...My Light. Is drawing you into a New Day."

Psalm 112:4
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
for the gracious and compassionate
and for the righteous man.

SUFFERING AND SORROW ARE A PART OF LIFE.

Knowing this, however, doesn't make it any easier to cope when you find yourself in the midst of the deepest, darkest trials of faith, and mentally anguish and strain.

Don't you wish Christianity could make you exempt from suffering? That would be great, but as most of us have learned, following our faith doesn't give us a free ride. We catch as much trouble as unbelievers—often more.

The difference, of course, is that we can turn to Jesus when things go wrong. Unbelievers might argue that we're only turning to our imagination, but we know better.

At some time in your life, however, suffering will hit you so hard that you won’t be able to do any of those things, and that dark time will probably visit you more than once.

“Even in darkness, light dawns for the upright,
for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man.”
 Psalm 112:4

WE ALL WANT THINGS WE DON'T GET.

Maybe it's a person you're sure would make a perfect spouse, and the relationship crumbles apart. Maybe it's a better job or promotion, and you don't make the cut.

Or it might be a goal you poured your time and energy into, and it doesn't come to pass or others sabotage it all.

All of us have prayed for the recovery of loved ones who were ill, but they died anyway.

It takes real spiritual maturity to stay faithful when things go wrong, but severing our relationship with God punishes us, not him.

Its self-destructive behavior that can put us on the path to a miserable life. The parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke15:11-32) teaches us that God always wants us to come back to him.

Whether your problem is discouragement, illness or aging, sometimes all you have left is Jesus. When you're angry and bitter, you can still cling to Jesus in the midst of your tears.

You can grab onto him and refuse to let go until he brings you through it. You'll find, to your surprise that he holds on to you even tighter than you hold on to him.

JESUS UNDERSTANDS SORROW.

He knows about being hurt. He remembers the terrible moment on the cross when his Father was forced to abandon him, because he was filthyfrom taking on our sins. Jesus won't let you go.’

And as you age and start down the path from this life to the next, Jesus will take your hand to guide you. He appreciates all that you have done for him through the years, but what he has always wanted most is your love.

So there you are in the middle of one of life's train-wrecks, dazed, wounded, wondering what shoe-or bomb-will be dropping next, and up walks Job's comforters.

We all remember Job from the Bible. A rich, powerful man, a great father and good in every way was Job. Then, in a series of overlapping upheavals, he lost everything and everybody except his wife-who turned out to be a whole lot less than sympathetic in her changed status.

Battered Job ends up sitting alone on a pile of dirt, scratching his boil-covered body with some broken pottery.

WE CAN IDENTIFY WITH POOR JOB.

Life drags us through some tough times of loss that make us feel every bit like Job. Caught in a vortex of pain, and wondering if we'll ever make it to safety. And, boy, do we recognize Job's so-called friends who showed up to by all accounts offer support and comfort.

As they sat with Job in his misery, they took turns playing a self-centered, self-righteous, can-you-top-this game of knowing for certain that every bit of Job ‘s disaster had to be his own fault or a lack of trust in God.

They weren't sure how or why because Job seemed so decent, but deep down, they insisted, he just couldn't be all he pretended to be.

THIS IS FAMILIAR TERRITORY.

You get fired, and friends smirk knowingly when you try to explain the political nature of the event. Your child gets into difficulty-well; you know the kind of comfort you'll get from friends about that.     (It probably started sometime during potty training.)

Yet others try to “help” you with what I call “prayer lecturing.” While praying “for and with you” they let you (and God) know just how lucky you should be to even have running water, had a meal that day and more! Not really comforting in any way, and very very short on compassion.

Yet, from the story, it's clear that Job was completely innocent. Dreadful things do happen to completely innocent people, good people.

Because of their opinion of Job's guilt, history has bestowed his friends-(and their current replicas) - the label, "Job's comforters." So-called friends who add to a suffering person's anguish by piling on false charges of blame and guilt and harsh reprimand for daring to show sadness or agony.

You may never have met anybody like Job, but you've met his comforters on more than one occasion. They seem to be everywhere.

WE CAN CHARGE SOME OF IT OFF TO JEALOUSY.

Job had everything a person could dream of wanting-and then some, so jealousy was never more than a stone's throw away. The green-eyed monster is a little more subtle with people living everyday, typical lives, but jealousy doesn't need much ground to take root and grow with vigor.

WE DON’T WANT TO ADMIT BAD THINGS MAY HAPPEN TO US!

If bad things happen to people who don't deserve them, they could happen to anybody, including me. If I don't want bad things to happen to me, (who does?), I have to persuade myself and everybody around me that the victim's actions caused the problem. If blame can be assigned, then I'll be safe as long as I'm good.

In other words, if I can claim that the cause of your problem is something you do that I don't do, then what happened to you can't happen to me.

There is, of course, no logic to this, but it brings some shaky comfort to frightened hearts.

We see this thinking at work when people stare numbly at adversity and ask, "What did I do to deserve this?" Sometimes the answer is, "nothing."

HAVE YOU EVER ASKED YOURSELF WHY ME?

And it doesn’t have to be bad; you could be excited from something wonderful.

Most often then not I ask myself this after something I am looking forward to goes wrong.

Even at times when something goes wrong I lay awake at night and my thoughts wonder to what previously occurred.

I am sure everyone does it at times, wishing for another try or chance.

You may lay awake thinking about your suffering, part of life’s suffering is misery’s shadow persisting/hanging on; not only do you suffer but you have to think about suffering.

I can’t prove this with statistics or find it any book I know of, yet I would say that more people either come to the faith or fall away because of this reason above all; the disturbance of suffering.

YOU SEE GOD USES TIMES OF SUFFERING…
… TO TEACH AND GROW US.

If you allow yourself to recount your sufferings, did you not learn more about faith while suffering then any other time? It has been said that; “Blessings are God’s whispers, he speaks in our conscience, but shouts to us in our suffering.”

 “O my Comforter in sorrow,

My heart is faint within me.” Jeremiah 8:18

Suffering becomes the only way to realize our hollow spiritual self. Pain is unmasked, and every person knows when something is not right when they are hurting. Pain insists upon being attended to.

So when you travel down this line of thought you come to the idea, why do I or someone else suffer when others don’t?

I KNOW SUFFERING IS EXHAUSTING AND PAIN HURTS.

That is why it is called pain and suffering. If there were an escape. a person of great wisdom and insight would have done it already. Yet Discipleship demands such trials to compel us towards renewal.

 Read Hebrews 2:10

“God, for whom and through whom everything was made, chose to bring many children into glory. And it was only right that he should make Jesus, through his suffering, a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their salvation.”

The real question is what to do when life has just punched us a good one, and Job's comforters show up at our door. Nobody says we have to let them in.

And certainly nobody says we have to entertain them. And, most positively, nobody says we have to believe them.

“For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives,
So also through Christ our comfort overflows.” - 2 Corinthians 1:5

We can sort out the who's-to-blame-for-what after we get some solid ground under our feet and a little energy back into our lives.

But we still won't want Job's comforters anywhere around us…
… We will want people who care.

 “Compassion “

To me not to be kind is evil of the mind.
No need to pray or preach,  Let us our children teach
With every fond caress  Pity and gentleness:
So in the end may we, God's Kingdom cause to be.

IT’S A STRANGE AND TWISTED WORLD THAT WE LIVE IN

Many well meaning people try hard to give pep talks, cheery texts and even send emails with profound  topics or inspirational contents all in the hope of giving a bit of relief from the ever increasing “noises” of an uncertain world.

“ I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."

John 16:33

WHAT DO YOU FEAR?

This is not always an easy question to answer right away. Emotions and physical reactions to the question begin to swirl and elevate stress levels when anxiety creeps in.

And, fear is a terror that can paralyze anyone if enough of it is allowed to enter our minds. And that is exactly where it first penetrates our peace. In the Mind.

Fear

noun

Fright, fearfulness, horror, alarm, panic, agitation, trepidation, dread, consternation, dismay, distress; anxiety, worry, angst, unease, uneasiness, apprehension, nervousness, foreboding;

WHEN WE FEAR WE MAKE POOR CHOICES

If you are afraid or “fear” being misled by someone, you will limit your intimacy or openness with him or her. Many believers in need of healing emotionally from harsh or indifferent parenting tend to keep deep relationships or friendship at arm’s length in order to maintain a sense of control or privacy for themselves.

This can become a form of “selective hearing or selective listening” if the individual feels that they need to remain aloof and frosty in order to gain the respect or validation that they feel that they need to exist.

The problem with this cycle is that is creates a private  “terror” of not having a solid place of safety with a few dear and treasured people, flawed people… but those willing to also be vulnerable and open.

Psalm 27:1

“The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear?

The LORD is the stronghold of my life-- of whom shall I be afraid?”

Every situation, location, and relationship of our everyday lives is in some way broken. As fallen creatures, the best we can ever do in this life is to know how to live in this broken-down house/earth suit that’s our current address. And, nothing and no one but God himself, in the fullness of his time, can change where we live. So as we experience the reality of life in this house, sometimes it will leave us confused and overwhelmed.

Sometimes it will leave us hurt and angry. Sometimes people will give way to envy because the house or “life” of someone living nearby seems far less broken. Sometimes we just get weary of the stress of it all and long for a house in perfect repair.

YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE

In those moments, those days, those seasons, remember that you are never on your own. The Master Builder has given us a copy of his renovation manual, the Bible. It will help us to understand why things are as broken as they are. It teaches us how to live well even in the midst of the brokenness. And it will explain the only way in which repair can ever happen.

Just never forget that the Designer himself has moved into the house with you. You’ve not been left alone. You can rest assured of his presence and his wisdom. His grace has blessed you with both of these.

However, He must be fully welcomed and invited into all of the “locked and hidden access areas” that others are not often trusted to enter into.

He who offers you such grace and guidance will never ask you to do what you are not fully capable of doing by God’s grace and ever present Spirit. He will not demand things of you that are beyond your abilities. Our Lord is tender and kind. He knows who you are and he knows where you’re living. He knows how hard it is to live in your broken-down house because in the flesh he lived here himself.

The Lord invites you to walk away from trying to figure it out on your own and he welcomes you to sit at his feet and learn the simplicities of living; things so full of meaning that you will see your world in a completely new way; things so practical that you will never live the same way again.

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.”

Philippians 2:3

TAKE A LOOK IN THE REARVIEW MIRROR FOR ONE MOMENT

Have you recently made decisions about who you will share with on any level such as giving, talking of dreams, sorrows, losses, major life events, and then afterward - pulled back only to run to either another source for additional validation or to agree with your choices or decisions? Or, have you reacted to some of the counsel or responses you have received by testing those whom you have shared with by removing your favor, kindness or former warmth from them?

These actions are often made rapidly when we are fearful or fear being wounded, and shift us into a place of survival and self-protection.

They can also isolate us from a loving, safe and healthy “corrective course” or direction away from fear and its tentacles.

FINDING THE PLACE OF SAFETY AND ACCEPTANCE

When we step into the hand of God we find the place of acceptance, and safety and an opportunity for service. It is the place of real authority, as well as of hiddenness.

God only works with those who are in His hand and those who do not keep jumping out of it, attempting to either control their own fears, but instead, often try to control others around them due to being fearful of the choices others make possibly affecting them.

Both greatly hinder the ability to trust other godly people and above all, to trust the safety of letting God do His job, while we rest in His hand.

The more we lie sheltered there, the more surely will He use us down the road. And it will be alongside others who freely share all that they have, without fear. Just as you will learn as you let go, and allow the Father to build a “Safe House” out of your life in His presence.

May the Lord do for us according to His word.

He said, "I have put My words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of My hand."

Charles Spurgeon spoke such a beautiful statement and I want to share it with you here.

“The shadow of God is not the occasional resort,

but the constant abiding- place, of the saint.

Under His shadow we are to feel that we are at home,

and then He will make Himself at home to us by becoming food unto our souls,

and giving spiritual refreshment to us while we rest.”

NO MORE HOOPS TO JUMP

When this is learned and treasured, you will then not withhold from or test others with rules or regulations set up to certainly fail them. We ruin great friendships or opportunities when we expect from others total vulnerability and openness and then only give part of what we have and who we are back in return.

Colossians 3:12

“Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

Perhaps you are waiting on Christ, desiring His company, and while you are thinking these thoughts you are asking, "Will He ever direct His full gaze upon me? Will He ever speak loving words to me? Will He ever let me sit at His feet? Will He ever permit me to lean my head upon His shoulder?"

COME AND STEP BACK INTO THE SHELTER OF HIS HAND.

Though you might shake like a leaf in a strong wind. Come! Sometimes those who come trembling are those who are aware that they are the lowest and the Creator the highest. When finally admit that our own self-esteem is less than nothing and is total vanity, then Jesus is the more good and lovely in our eyes.

Let your humility of heart, and your sense of hollowness, as a replacement for disqualifying you, be a sweet instrument for leading you to receive more of Christ.

“Before his downfall a man's heart is proud,

But humility comes before honor.”

Proverbs 18:12

The emptier I am, the more room is there for the Lord

The more I lack, the more He will give me.

The more I feel my weakness, the more shall I adore and bless Him when He makes me whole.

You’re never in a better place than when you give up on you and begin to trust in what is certain.

The life-shaping wisdom of the One who created you - in the first place.

“After all, every house has a builder,

But the builder of everything is God.”

Hebrews 3:4
